Who does other contracting work for non agricultural companies? I'm talking wind farms etc.

Where would you turn for advice on creating a company Environmental policy and things like that?

I've got all the health and safety paper work in hand.

The big companies will have employees do these things, but how do the smaller companies do it?

You could devise an environmental policy very quickly.

Just bullet point everything your business buys or consumes or sends to waste. A good amount of this sort of thing is probably already recycled i.e. a vehicle workshop will be selling their waste oil and their scrap will be going to a recycler. A small amount will be trade waste that is probably incinerated these days.

If you were using a lot of diesel you could switch to HVO and state the company is making maximum efforts to be CO2 neutral. Some forestry companies will only use biodegradable lubricants- it costs money and grief but they factor this into their prices.

It largely depends on what you business does, how it does it and how far you want to push the envelope. It's like Google coming out and saying all their server farms are based in Iceland and operate entirely on Geothermal energy or something.

Personally I would just take em off Google, environmental policy will be very generic,

It’s mostly bull sh!t or copy and paste excercise all risk assessments and method statements were when I dealt with em
Had to jump through the hoops last year, and manged the RA and method with help from here.

My enviro policy was... minimal. Contacted someone doing a similar task and he sent me his policy, such as it was. BS exercise and everyone knew it.

Certainly agree with your last statement....

It's all things that weren't needed for small businesses in the PQQs a year ago. now everyone must fill in everything.

icing on it is "describe how your business will achieve carbon neutral by 2050"🙄

It will depend on what you're doing and how much of a rush the big firm are in. We did a job for a big civil engineering who were working for welsh water years ago moving pipes with a tractor and trailer when they realised they couldn't get an artic in at the last minute. The paper trail went out the window pretty fast when they were looking at 20 odd staff 2 or 3 diggers and a crane standing around. I didn't even have to wear hiviz or have a flashing light on the tractor.
