Parts for ECE spreaders.

The bearings have gone in a gearbox for one of the beaters on my ECE spreader. When we’ve got it to bits, a shaft that I new had a twist in it, now has cracks. I would like to replace this shaft, but can’t find one, as apparently parts for ECE spreaders are really hard to get now.
I don’t suppose anyone has an old gearbox, or are breaking a spreader?

Very few machinery manufacturers make their own gear boxes, they usually buy them in. So, see what markings are on the gb to see if you can identify who the maker was.

As above I’m certain ece were basically same as another manufacturer I can’t remeber which one though sorry!
My mechanics been hunting, but come up blank. SAS have an order on bits from Germany supposedly since November with no delivery date confirmed. They are selling conversion kits to bunning single gearboxes which are not priced to bad, but we don’t spread that much (own use) and a bit of work involved putting new caps in the beaters etc. But if can’t get bits, might be the way to go. Are those single gear boxes on Benning’s more reliable?

ECE
East Coast engineering .
I’ve just googled them . Worth giving them a ring because that’s what the initials used to stand for.

Alan was, I believe sales manager for Bunnings. Not sure if he ever worked for ECE.

East Coast Engineering was set up by some ex Bunning engineers just up the road from the Bunning factory. They were bought by Marstons in the late 90s and production moved to Grantham. Hunton Legg, I think bought up the spares stock when Marstons closed.
