Patching up grass

Put some grass in late and it's very patchy. Im going to top up the thin areas with a wagtail asap. Can I apply An on the same day, to help the grass that is there, or will it hurt the new seed and seedlings?

I am in the same situation as you but until it's dry enough to roll the seed will be staying in the bag. I would not apply any fert as the volunteers and established grass will swamp out the new seadlings.

If you had rain very soon after applying the fertiliser and before the grass seed chits then you'd be ok IMO. No rain & you'd risk the seedlings getting scorched though you'd have to have a prill right next to a seed for this to happen. High grass seed rate & low AN dose & you'd be fine IMO.

You could use a specialist overseed grass mixture treated with a bio-stimulant for improved establishment?
