.................in the same field !

Am i mad to do this ? I have a small 7ac WOSR field that is really not going to make it so i'm thinking of trying this as a bit of an experiment

I'm told that it is done in Canada with great success ? and you dont get reduced yields of either Peas or SOSR

the N the peas fix feed the OSR and the OSR stalks act as supports to stop the peas going flat ??

waste of time ? or great idea ?

Got to have a certain level of madness for peas or spring rape on their own. My only questions would be as regards drilling - are you going to drill the peas and broadcast the rape then roll in - and the differences in normal harvest time of the two crops.

Drill the peas and use the slug pelleter and then either drill the osr in a second pass or use the slug pelleter on the drill and harrow in ??

I like the idea. But then I like the idea of harvesting wheat with a forage harvester and doing all the separation in the shed.

How are you going to manage the harvest? I expect the peas will have to hang on for the rape? I like the idea of the peas standing, but dislike the idea of a pile of peas cut a month after they were ready? I fear the words "waste and stain". But would certainly do it for a 7ac trial.

Give it a try Clive and let us know how you get on!

Combicrop have been doing a cereal pea mix in the wilds of wales for a few years now, only previous with OSR & peas is in America isn't it?
