Perfect Suckler cow??

You are right about Baldies being mental. I had a Oakchurch Duster x Ferrari cow which I thought I could calm down. She managed to slip and go down and when the vet came she very nearly got up to kill the vet. When Frank came to put her down, the same thing. She was ok with me though.

Second worse cow was a Hereford x Friesian, she was as mad and very nearly got me.

Any nasty cows go these days.
A bloke I know had used a lot of Oakchurch Duster semen on his suckler herd due to his excellent EBVs. He said the calves' temperament was a bit of an issue.

Hardly see a Charolais store sold in Bakewell, you see more Blondes!

Tbh I've noticed the markets that sell stores by weight seem to be the ones that have more Charolais bred animals. The ones that sell per head tend to be more Limi

I've moved from Charolais to Lim and I wouldn't say they grade any better. The lim bulls grow fine but there's no doubt the heifers lack growth and size compared to charolais the same age.

If I could get a decent charolais bull for the same money as a Lim I'd have another straight away but the type I like would £8/9k. Need more cows before I can justify spending that on a bull imo.

Why change to lim if you can breed calves like them ?

these type of calves would be miles ahead of any lims in the markets up here

Incredible stock! Must be such a pleasure sitting and watching them graze on a summer's evening!
