A spare injector and a bit of piping adapted to connect it to one of the pump pipes would be handy for proving the pump once and for all (safety precautions observed of course). I suppose smoke out of the exhaust is pretty much doing the same thing though.

Cleaned up multi plugs with electric contact cleaner and airline.
Just thought it'd be worth a punt before taking pump off again.

So to follow up, starting problem soom returned.
I got diperk out. Plugged his diagnostic in , replaced the voltage regulator and she has run fine for last 6 momths.
I was told to use this firm from the start but thought I'd be More cost effective.
Lesson learnt.
Thanks S

Fitted a new ECM this week on one of these on a massey for the first time. Engine was starting cold but not when hot , took a bit of figure it out
Quite a lot of these engines seem to have the ecu bolted to the block which to me is just about the worst place to put it. The only other place that could be worse would be to bolt it to the exhaust manifold.
You need to know what your looking at with the diagnostic tools as well, sometimes they can be misleading, and then can cause a bit of unnecessary expense.:banghead:

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
