PGI meeting frome

No. But interested as a buyer and finisher of store lambs, how can we tell from the flock mark if they qualify?
There is a list of CPH numbers, but herd / flock numbers?
Is that out there anywhere for west Country animals?

Surely your market should be getting a signed declaration from the vendor for purchasers. They do at finished stage.
The correct flock/ CPH number doesn't guarantee pgi status.

Yes, that's why I asked. The declaration is attached to all our market entry forms. But was not given out at the time we bought these lambs from the same markets, in October / November.
For the last 5 - 6 months they've had Cornish grass and minerals only.
I expect they were born to Devon or Cornish flocks, but not sure, hence the question.

Don't know the details of the scheme. Reckon it's admirable to try and get a premium but if the general public aren't prepared to pay a premium for West Country beef then it's not worth it. Not sure general public would pay any extra even if they like the idea of it.

I don't think there is a premium at present (I haven't seen any that's for sure)

But if the processors/retailers can create a premium market and this delivers a premium back to me in due course then I am happy to support it
I doubt it will happen being a cynical old sod :(

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
