phone line into building

Is this possible can i just run a wire out of the back of the socket in the house, dig it across a field and into a building then plug a phone in are is it more technical than that? If so what sort of wire do i need the type that you run though houses looks like it won't stand up to life underground

Will this just connect the same way but be a more use? Just looked and its not that much dearer!

Yes, we put it round the house for telephone and data. Memory is shaky but I don't think it can do a phone line and data at the same time.........actually you can get Ethernet and two phone lines out of a cable but makes for a very slow data because of the telephone interference. Best chuck two in if you can afford it.

Is there power in the building? I ask because technically you shouldn't plug routers to the same cable if they are using different earthing/neutral systems or something like that. there is a danger of stray power getting thrown back down the cable. You can inject power (Poe) at source down the Ethernet cable to power a camera in the building to avoid this.

No you are correct in what u say but if your gonna dig through a waterpipe you didnt know was there the colour of pipe (ducting) wouldnt matter but you are correct. We put a duct (red) in for electricity to a new building electricity company didnt realy care how deep it was seemed crazy to me

I'm the opposite. I prefer it underground. So long as marker tape is used and a cat is used there shouldn't be a problem. Less easy to hit than an overhead especially when there are stone lorries tipping in unusual places.

You just need some standard phone cable, and wire in back of plug as suggested.
If you want data a second cat 6 wire is essential.
If you are concerned cat 6 cable will do both jobs and need no further protection.
Placing them in a MDPE pipe pose no risks to anyone although Topless Matt is totally correct that running mains power through a water pipe does pose long term risks

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.
