Pickup chassis rust prevention

Got a 3 year old Toyota Hilux 3 litre Auto (one of the very last before the 2.4's came in) and although the chassis was still the in good nick some of the paint was getting tired and some surface rust was spotting through

So decided to have the chassis treated with Dinitrol - a German product

Unlike Waxoyl it dries hard like a paint

It was a 10 day job and pleased with the job, inside and out of the chassis has been done

How much did that cost you?

£550 incl Vat

I thought it ok for 7-10 days with them and a 4 stage treatment & remove the plastic wheel liners too

They use a Dinitrol 'system' of treatment product

There are treatment centres in most parts of U.K.

Had the truck from new and only has 21k on it and want to keep it - so thought it was worthwhile to get the chassis protected form salt up north

That is a lot less than i thought. I might look into it for my Ranger.

Thanks

Who did you get it done with?

Looks good. I had my Disco Waxoyled the only year it passed its MOT at first go with the idea of keeping it. Cost £200, chap said to avoid jet washing it and it would need doing probably annually, to be fair he didn't think the chassis good enough to pass the MOT but undersealing would stop the rust. A quick calculation would my car be worth more in ten years with £2K spent on Waxoyling ? I decided not . Car failed next year's MOT on chassis rot. :(

Is it likely to last longer than Waxoyl do you think?

I reckon so
I haven't used the Hilux for over 2 weeks (been away abroad) and the chassis coat is like paint and rock hard

I had another vehicle waxoiled 3-4 years ago (for £200) and most of it has washed away and peeled off - hence looking at something more durable and longer lasting

Dinitrol have a yearly inspection regime so I was told and any area that was substandard would be redone FOC - so this seemed like a good German company who was confident in their product and process

Had a 10

Had a 10 warranty, after something like 15 years they ceased trading in the UK due to claims, 1970's cars for you!
I remember my grandparents buying a bmw that had been done with the stuff, I don’t recall any issues, but perhaps they didn’t keep it long enough to find out. Car was new, so wonder if the treatment was officially sanctioned by bmw?
