Hedges round here are generally tidy but not quite as neat as they were in the U.K. perhaps it’s an Allier thing or just that in my case we live in the Bocage.

Not a great picture but I thought it was worth posting Limousin twins seeing as I keep being told it’s rare round here. Two sets so far and only less than half way through.
SImilar here this year, scanner man has got most dates wrong so far and didn’t spot the two sets of twins. Lost the first set partly due to not expecting anything to be ready to calve for another 10 days and secondly not expecting twins and mainly just getting it all wrong that day! This second set came out of a génisse with no help and are doing well. It didn’t help that we scanned late but it really didn’t help him turning up âpre midi still half pee'd!We regularly get twins, usually one set a year, a pia. Messed up this year, went to calve a cow in the field, head and feet back, got the head turned and two feet but still couldn't pull it out even with the jack. Turned out I had one foot of one calf and the other of it's twin, ended up loosing both, fortunately the cow was OK.
Keep it clean and dry! You'll be amazed how well it will heal. Just make sure it sucks at least twice a day . Mind the cow doesn't stand on it by accident. So the week hasn’t started so well, although at least I think the calf will be ok. This is the first time I have had a calf in a cast.
Do you know what happened? So the week hasn’t started so well, although at least I think the calf will be ok. This is the first time I have had a calf in a cast.
By the looks of the grazing and loss of hair I am guessing that one of the cows stood on her in the field.Do you know what happened?
Beautiful looking calf even with the cast.So the week hasn’t started so well, although at least I think the calf will be ok. This is the first time I have had a calf in a cast.
We had one whose leg was broken by a cow bulling / messing about with the bull. Calf just couldn't get out the way fast enough.By the looks of the grazing and loss of hair I am guessing that one of the cows stood on her in the field.
Thank you, she is 14 days old, I think I have been very lucky to find this herd/cheptel.Beautiful looking calf even with the cast.
Wow 14 days that makes here even better!Thank you, she is 14 days old, I think I have been very lucky to find this herd/cheptel.
So do I when they are not trying to kill you , in fairness they have settled right down now (most of them anyway) and are more predictable than my few Angus and no where near as kicky!Wow 14 days that makes here even better!
I love the Limousin breed.
