Pig slurry separator advise

This is more a question for pig farmers with a slurry separator.

So with the new IPPC legislation coming into effect soon I’m looking into pig slurry separation. We own an 800 sow farrow to
Finish unit. I’m thinking of installing a separator which will run from a reception pit, fed by the main drainage pipe from the site. I’d like people opinions on reliability, how well they handle debris (bits of chalk, bail band etc) and general suitably for the job.

Thanks all

Ours handles dairy muck, so not quite as relevant to your question . Its a rotary screen type Carier ,or Evolution sort.
I should imagine it would handle pig slurry well to be honest , its quite runny?
IF you keep it clean and washed off well ,inspect the trap for debris and small stones , and above all ,have it greased often and keep your eye on it - they are ok!!
Ours copes with diary tubes that have somehow got loose , and other bits , but half bricks or anything like that are a no ,as the screen is a grand each plus fitting
BUT , not if you just expect to turn it on and forget it till it goes wrong ! :)

Thank you for the reply.
my main concern is bits of bail band that come down to the reception pit. I think we’ll have a macerator in line to break up the small debris that comes down but bits of band I can imagine are a hassle.
Trying to decide if I either install a 10,000 M3 tower or go this route to take out the solid so less mixing required in the main lagoon. Even with a tower it would need to be pumped up so another problem there.

I’ve got some quotes coming in at the moment. I was just really after someone who had a pig unit to throw in their experiences with them. Our farm had one once but it was about 40 years ago so before my time. I’m not sure why they never continued with it though.

We use the EYS 600 supplied and fitted by Storth on two 749sow breeding units with Nurseries. Good machines - churns out the solid so the liquid is really easy to pump long distances to the dribble bar. Low maintenance. Get Chris from Storth out he would happily design/ price the right system for your farm (even if just to get ideas!). We went for it as got a grant through Countryside Productivity Scheme.
