Pins and bushes

Im just ordering up new pins and bushes. Its a Quicke 955 loader im doing. changing the bushes to a much higher load rating that the standard PTFE lined brass ones. Considering the bushes are now harder, if I make the pins out of EN24 am I doing the right. Both bushes and pins are hi wear, is this incorrect. Am I better to make the pins out of EN8 so as to allow them to wear and replace again in the future. I dont have access to hardening. Pins are 35mm and different lengths so cant buy them off the shelf

They are but thats the idea of a bush. If wasnt that sure youd just make pin to fit hole with no bush

what i meant was that does it matter if the pins are slightly softer than the bushes as the pins will wear a bit quicker than the bushes but are easier changed.

Was always taught that if you put a soft and hard material in contact then the hard one wears before the softer one.

Use EN24. EN8 is as soft as butter. Or comprise and use EN16?‍

on the other hand its just a tractor loader! how expensive can genuine pins be!?

The only thing I have seen first hand to back this up is some bronze bushes on a steel shaft and the shaft wore and bushings were fine.

Could it be that steel involved was of lower spec or quality? I know with metals there are a myriad of grades and alloys.

It's more to do with dirt in the joint acting like grinding paste. Plastic bushes will wear pins and rubber oil seals wear groves in shafts too.

On a manitou if there's movement will it be the pin or the bush or both?

Had a hydraulic pipe cut right through a prop shaft on a manitou once. Pipe had barely lost its rubber in the process.

That’s because Manitou have a high chocolate content in the steel ??

Could be either except where the pin is seized in a frame/housing.
