Planet v3 help....

I have just spent an afternoon entering fertiliser info onto planet V3. What a process - that I enjoy like a hole in the head. I then asked it to calculate my NVZ for the arable 2018. All ok and printed off report. Tried to shut report window and .....
Now the whole thing has frozen, cannot close any windows or do anything. I pressed save before I printed off. If I just switch the wretched thing off will I lose the lot?
Suddenly my farm diary and envelopes system seems SO much better.
Shall I kill it? pressing esc does nothing other than ping.

right.:)..listen very carefully.....take your computer with the planet on it.....place in yard...then hit it several times with a sledge hammer (goggles, gloves ppe ect:rolleyes:).....then go buy another computer....it may sound harsh:eek:....but you will thank me:D:D:D

Try having Planet on a Lenovo, dear Christ, hard work.
Lenovo is worst laptop ever owned. The fact that I hate to spend anytime using it is whats kept it from being launched across the room.

Good news on sorting it. I'd have restarted it, reckon all your inputs wpuldstill of been there.
I would swap but it is free and don't have enough acres to warrant paying for a programme.

Me neither, I can't justify thousands on a programme. I do find it quite hard to learn though and sort of bumble around it and hoping that I am getting it right. If I could find something easier for a few hundred I would be tempted, especially if it came with someone to enter it all ......

I tend to input alot at once and print or record what I need so don't use it that many times in a year which doesn't help my operating skills for it.
One problem I can possibly have is that when entering crop planning and planned yields I will get a N recommendation.
However when i enter harvested yield, if a crop were to of failed (has happened) it is possible to then of been over the N max

I tried planet for a couple of years and hated it, the last straw was when I gave up a couple of fields and could not find anyway to delete them from the records. Planet is particularly nauseous when you have a lot of livestock of 4 species and they want that all accounted for per month, every month, be they grazing, housed or sold.

I am never going to use it again, I made a spread sheet using the standard figures and copy and paste to the new year record then adjust stock numbers etc from there, it works for me.

The real stupid thing is that I have never been anywhere near N max on any one field and I average 1 artic load of AN less applied across the farm than it predicts I can use. I only use 2 artic loads a year

Can anyone recommend an alternative programme, that doesn't cost a fortune and is designed for idiot users on a small predominantly arable farm?

Certainly not by me.

Read rb209, make your own spreadsheet, if you can post here you are plenty clever enough for that.

Ho ho ho....!

I have never, in nearly 40 years of playi.....working with Computers, really got my head around a spreadsheet. I kind of understand the concept and how they work, but I find that every time I have a go again, the brain freezes.

Bizarre and possibly, a little shameful. I know full well I should have gone to Evening classes back in the 80's...

I too would like a simple bit of software that doesn't behave like a complete pile of shite, aka Planet!

I find the same, a once or twice a year interaction is a real issue, and then you have the unexpected changes in the software that have happened in the past!

There is an Android app from Farming Online, that may, or may not still work. I cannot really be happy with a purely phone based app. It wont even run o na modern Chromebook that will work with android apps...

Go to Playstore and look for Fertiliser Calculator.

I am sure that there are simple tutorials somewhere.

I like spreadsheets, I am sure that you know the basics like having to put the = sign in before a formula and how to the use of the $ sign and what Sigma (that curly capital E thing at the top of the page), after that it is simple..........
