Dear Farmers,

We are a group of researchers from the University of Sheffield exploring the plastic use for silage production on Dairy Farms.

We designed an online anonymous survey to learn about the purchase, use and disposal of plastic for silage production on your farm. Survey Link https://forms.gle/dnf8EtYtg3EvLYn5A

If you would like to talk about the plastic issues on your farm, please feel free to leave your comments below, or your contact information in our survey.

Thanks for your participation.

Wasn’t there a thread almost identical to this a couple of weeks back?

I’m surprised to hear that your account was blocked here, from what I’ve seen it only tends to happen when trouble has been stirred and after warnings.
From what I recall there was certainly no need for that, have you asked why so as you don’t run Into the same problem again.

There is no warning, just a notice to say suspicious of SPAM when we try to log in.
We tried to contact the platform multiple times for more information and further instructions in the past few weeks, but have not receive any feedback. Therefore, we have to create this new account, which is shame as we lost the previous discussion information.

If we want to make a change to the plastic use and disposal. For instance follow the reduce, reuse, and recycle steps, which step would be most challenging and why?

Recycling is beyond the farm gate so not something we have a lot of influence over.
We use it for a reason so reducing use could be challenging as could reuse, poor preservation of feed from re use would almost certainly have a higher cost financially than buying new and possibly even environmentally if you take account of all the resources used to grow and harvest silage only to let a proportion go to waste due to poor preservation.
