Please help me with my study on soil health and farming technique !!!

Hi!

My name is Gemma and I am currently working on a dissertation focused on soil qualities and farming method.

If you own a plot/farm in the UK. It would be extremely helpful if you could help me in filling out a 5-10 minute survey.

What the survey will do:
This will give me the necessary data to plot all the graphs in my dissertation. GIVING ME MARKS :O

I don't have plots.
I have a farm made up of fields.

As you have asked about burning and few other questions that show little actual farming background, not really worth doing the survey.
The questions are not really good enough to use in any meaningful way, unless that's done on purpose so you can tweak the results to fit your agenda.

Might we ask what subject your dissertation is in? Vader is correct, you will get better engagement if your target responders feel you have a reasonable base understanding of UK farming practices. None us here farm "plots". Little if any burning takes place in UK fields beyond maybe some hedge trimmings following the laying or coppicing of a hedge. Specifically what tests are you interested in when it comes to measuring soil health? UK farmland has been "farmed on" for many generations, I couldn't tell you to the nearest century when someone first cleaned forest to start farming here.

Really? I don’t think that the OP will be the next Secretary of State for the Environment

Looking through questions again.
I now can see that her results would say most UK farmers are conventional, who use chemicals and fertilisers.
So from that, she can peddle any agenda she wants against farming.
Pass figured to the vegan brigade who can say it's what we say ourselves.
I never do surveys, not even gov ones that say you have to.
They either ignore or twist them anyway and do as they wish.

well I have just done it, however seemed rather strange questions (especially for an organic stock farm with all permanent pasture) but even if I were an arable farmer, I think the answers and questions were so "woolly" I wonder if there is any benefit to be gained from this survey (unless as stated in posts above to prove an anti farming agenda?)

With all respect to Gemma, her questionaire would have benefited from being proof read by an Ag student or lecturer before going out into the Wild. Uni of Reading used to have the odd one about...

I have worked with Ag Students several times who were preparing dissertations. Most take them pretty seriously...

I now know more than I really want about some aspects of Geology (daughter) and for Civil Engineering of embankments (son) after reading their offerings. Masters were worse... but I guess it all added to the usefullish clutter in my brain.

It is possible the OP is not English/British and has English as a second language, might that explain the nature of the post and the kinds of questions used?

Maybe .. but you may see a "White Paper" in "The Guardian" explaining why UK farmers are terrible and the UK should import everything .. or do you expect fair play and the truth from DEFRA, EA and the Climate Change lobby ?

Guaranteed it will be twisted to suit agenda.
