**PLEASE READ** before posting Machinery Sales

As you are probably all aware now, TFF has launched it's new classified section.

It is initially aimed at machinery sales only.

Please do not post any machinery adverts in this current 'For Sale' section - please post them using the Classified system (it will automatically create a thread in here for you).

By using the Classifieds system, members will be able to find your items easier by using the search functions, and you will be able to manage the sale of your machinery by using the seller options.

The classified section can be found by clicking the word 'Classifieds' at the top of the page - or by this link: http://classifieds.thefarmingforum.co.uk/listing/index

Many thanks. (y)

Why not just leave it as it was? What's the benefit?? Personally I don't think there is enough stuff listed to try and categorise etc??

there will be when we sort the feeds from dealers, there will be thousands of machines on there soon and thats why it needs to be searchable

its still a work in progress with a lot of additional functionality to come yet but will become a very useful thing when your looking to buy or sell farm machinery, if its not on TFF classifieds its not for sale is the aim for this over the next 12months vs the current disjointed multisite / expensive magazine search you have to make right now

.........and it is free remember !

I thought it was nice having the for sale section for TFF members to advertise there machinery, so now there will be thousands of dealers over priced machines on here, will they be kept separate or mixed up with the TFF members ads

makes sense , can people take them down when sold , so we don't get 1001 pages of sold and no price stuff , you might need more search options later , but first you need more machinery to sell

Adverts are fully manageable by the author - if you have a look in there, there is a section called 'my listings', which means anybody posting something for sale will be able to mark the item as sold. (y)

When the classified section starts to get thousands of entries, how will we stop the automatic duplicate posts generated in the forum clogging up the New Posts list?

We have been thinking about this, I think we will probably have a single entry in the New Posts stream "7 new adverts listed" with a small thumbnail and title of each - or something along those lines.

The farm kit website was great when it first started up. Mainly private sellers with genuine stuff at sensible prices. Stuff you could actually buy. Now it's just clogged up with big dealers overpriced stuff and it's no different to picking up any other ag publication.

Hope this doesn't go the same way.

Would be interesting to get your ideas on how we can stop it going that way @Dave W . We've started to put filters in already so people can search just for private stuff instead of dealer stuff, but we're open to more suggestions :)

The filters will help but it will depend if the ads are listed properly. I've already seen a few dealers ads listed as private

That's mainly because some stuff was entered before we had the filters for trade / private, and we defaulted everything to private.

We will implement some sort of 'report' system, and then it will be easy to flag up which items are actually from the trade.
