Ploughing in the David Brown or Ford and Fordson class at the Nationals.

Evening all,
Can anybody plough in the David Brown or Ford and Fordson class at the Nationals? Or do you have to qualify? If not, who do you need to get in contact with?

as far as i know you dont need to qualify , but will probably need an invite thro one of the clubs

Can't answer for the DB and Ford/Fordson, but you do have to qualify for the Ferguson Class.

There were 24 in the Ferguson class, but this is agrees with by the FOFH and the SOP. FOFH pay for the entires.

Looking in the 2022 programme, there were only 10 in each class for the DB, F/FS.

The DB class looks like you need to have a DB plough. But the F/FS seems to be anything goes. Ransome TS86, TS59 and even RSLD.

I have note seen a qualifier for DB or F/FS advertised at any of the matches I have attended.

I'm not sure how that works as there are no matches in the South-West that have a David Brown class.

Isn't the Ford/Fordson class a club class, I'm not sure you have to qualify, just get nominated by you're local club maybe? I know someone who always ploughs in it, but I won't see him for a while now. I always think its a daft class anyway as its a "tractor" class not a "plough" class. The Fergie and DB classes are "plough" classes whereas the F&F class seems to allow anything - unless I'm wrong and you have to use a Ford Ransome plough??

Having had a looking this years National programme, both the DB and F/FS have the filling comment in their class.

Competitors in this class have been invited to plough by the David Brown/Ford & Fords Association

I have received some further clarification on this.

You do have to qualify for the David brown class, the requirements are any David brown tractor and David brown plough with David brown bodies but not Ransomes bodies like TCN/SCN. The David brown club is trying for more southern qualifiers but need ploughing society's to contact the David brown club ploughing officer (David White) to let him know where it is so he can send some 1st, 2nd, 3rd plaque's.

The ford & fordson class is a free for all and any ford/ fordson/ Ransomes plough from the vintage and classic classes are invited from the ford & fordson club.

SOP are not interested in these classes they just give them a corner of field to fill in

Crewekerne YFC is normally DB qualifier.
