Hi All,
I need to put some AB15 (grass/legumes) in, want to drill into a spring overwintered stubble. I have a 3m direct drill but it struggles to drill shallow enough and moves a fair bit of soil, plus it’s slow. I want to tickle it in and have seen a 4m Massey 30 disk drill that I recon...
AMAZONE Ltd will again take the opportunity at Cereals 2024 to showcase kit that reflects the shifting trends in crop establishment. These shifting trends are also supported by government help through the SFI and grants available through the Farming Equipment Technology Fund. The Condor 12001-C...

Spring barley in this year. What’s the best to plant end of April/may. Don’t mind if it’s to just graze lambs or to cut it.
wondered about vetch and cutting it then grazing lambs on it over the winter. Any better ideas?

Growers are being warned that wet soils over the winter and spring could increase the risk of wireworm damage in potato crops this season.
Research has identified high soil moisture as a precursor for pest activity, with wet areas and flood plains...
I've never got this right.
My criteria are:
Must be 4m min and pulled by 265hp.
Minimal moving parts & bearings
Must have reasonably priced tungsten wearing metal.
Needs to be able to work hilly heavy land to say 8 inches max, with both lift and mix.
Must also be able to work shallow and quick...
50 acres. 6 fields but would split into 12 paddocks. Old PP but flat and decent ground. How many store lambs could you finish from mid June to 31st October? Obviously depends on weather but rough idea.
Got some older GS4 herbal leys which have got a lot of docks and the % herbs are declining.
GS4 says to re-establish the sward if necessary to maintain minimum requirements. Ideally I want to have a break crop, possibly some stubble turnips or rape over the summer, to allow me to tackle the...
Just wondering if there's any further information out yet as to what constitutes no till in the eyes of SFI?
Is it a dts/mzuri/claydon direct into stubble?
Or is it going to be lower disturbance tine or disc?
Supposedly a claydon grain and fert meets the grant spec with the leading tine applying...
Trying to cheer myself up with thoughts of cows grazing a forage crop in the sunshine.
Which varieties are recommended? What is expected DM yield per hectare?
Want to graze from first few weeks of July so was thinking to put in late April/early May. Thinking full cultivation to put in as I...
Just thinking aloud here..
Getting on for spring barley, maybe better off with something else.
Thinking a couple of ton of grain maize off the 10a might be better.
Would be all fed in house to beef.
Can sow it with the combi,
Have small conventional combine header to cut it(if it will do it)...
I've taken on a few fields and want to subsoil due to past management decisions. I don't do any currently except where I've made a mess with a 16000 L tanker, and using the shaky legs is just to disruptive to the surface and structure. I'd like a leg that is much gentler in it's approach...
