As trainee farmer has suggested, normally you would screw the plug to the connector, then unscrew the outer plastic part. But they are usually 3 part with a rubber compression gland to seal the cable.
In your first picture, if you poke down in the cable end with a scribed, you should be able to feel if it’s rubber or an epoxy potting compound.
There are special tools available, but they are usually expensive, so normally you just use the other half of the connector to hold the end while you unscrew the cover. You will never be able to hold it with pointy nosed pliers, circlip pliers etc. Shouldn’t be tight, will just be nipped tight. onto a rubber seal
