Polaris v mule v gator etc

In the market for one, had a few on demo.

We really need to have a diesel as we are miles from a petrol station and have diesel tanks on farm.

Has anyone got any of the above? Polaris don’t get good reviews up here, constant breakdowns. Got a mule on demo at the moment and it’s great to drive, it’s just big enough.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Don't have one but have friends who have various makes.

Polaris is good, but breaks down a lot (do not keep it after the Warranty expires!).

Gator and Mule both get very good things said about them. @Gator is the Gator expert... the new Mule is supposed to be excellent - but BIG. Only criticism my friend has is, it has hardly any storage in the cab compared to the old model.

Newest gamekeeper here had a Mule at his old place, and they HAD a Polaris here (got rid of it and hasn't been replaced) he said the old model Mule was a better machine (reliability etc)

I know getting Petrol is a ball ache but the Honda Pioneer is a far better machine than the diesels. Had a Polaris Ranger.... never again, made of plastercine...
May be better now, they certainly needed to be.
12k km on Pioneer in just over a year, apart from an exhaust clamp under warranty it’s been faultless.

I've just had a can-am traxter on demo was petrol but was converted to run on gas and there was a good offer on getting a gas tank installed on farm. Apparently gas is about 38p on farm cause it doesn't attract the road duty.

Have Polaris 450 no problems so far(y).

New gator arrived lost month and is far better than the old one. Lost more room in the cab for three people and even space for the dog. Loads of storage too, passanger seat lifts up and a large storage are , glove box, side pockets on the doors, more cup holders than ive got cups for:rolleyes:.
Doors are far moor stonger than the all glass ones on the old bus, and ive broke a few of then:facepalm:, plus the window winds down:D . All bigger fuel tank , not sure what it holds, got 164 mile from a tank:whistle:.
Seating position is better as the drivers seat moves forward and the steering wheel tilts, so wi being a short asre im not perched on the end of the seat:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:. I think its quiter too, all in all a big improvement on the old one.

Had an RTV for a month, sent that back bag of sh1te, no power going up hills , could walk faster:facepalm:.
Had a mule for 12 months but the old type but also lacked power and was like sotting in a wind tunnel .
Gator all the way, its the only one thats done all ive asked of it. But thats just my opinion.(y)

On our second Polaris Ranger diesel now. Both have been near enough flawless and are used everyday on a mixed beef, sheep and arable farm. One had a dodgy wheel bearing and we had the ball on the end of the throttle cable come off. New one is a fantastic machine incredibly frugal on diesel, tonnes of cab storage and space, quick and easy clip on cab, heater & aircon as well as power steering. The only bad thing is the clutching/throttle as it can be jumpy to get going but apparently they are changing this so it's as good as the older models. I believe the Polaris has the greatest specs in nearly every aspect compared to the gator and definitley the mule and Kubota equivelent. Had a few neighbours come and try ours out and they've all bought one after doing so

Picked up a mule pro mx on Friday on demo, that’s a petrol engine!
Fantastic machine, the suspension on it is miles ahead of the mule 4010 I own. Filled it with petrol on Saturday (£32) worth.so far it’s done 56 miles on its still over half full.very impressed with it

Are you doing much heavy towing or carrying with it for the fuel consumption?

That's where diesel wins IMO (experience from my diesel bike) - consumption doesn't alter when you start working her hard compared to petrols

Only a snacker ar the moment,it’s had the pedal to the metal a few times tho. Does 44mph compared to the old mule doing 24.
