Polytunnel Planning Permission?

Anyone know do you need planning permission to erect a polytunnel on a farm in Scotland?

Rough size 9m x 14m.

Use would be for lambing and growing strawberries [emoji39]

It always used to be a bit of a grey area as to whether they were ‘permanent’ structures or ‘temporary’. I was led to believe that concrete footings made it impossible to argue that they were temporary, but if you screw or push in the anchors, they can be argued as such, so not needing any planning. The acres and acres of polytunnels put up for soft fruit are surely done without a need for planning.;)

Not sure of the specific rules in Scotland, but that size would be waved through under permitted development in most sites in England and Wales.

Thank you. I think the polytunnel rules may differ depending if its for domestic or agricultural use. Also I want it in rough ground by the house and I think in Scotland it says something about 30%.

If you’re putting up one tunnel of that size, next to your house, you could argue it’s for either use (ag or domestic) if questioned, depending on which set of rules fits best?

I'm not sure which rules fit best with Perth and Kinross Council. It would only be a few metres from the house but you would see it.

They have a paper on another case but I'm not sure it helps me much.
A search in Google 'polytunnel Perth and Kinross' brings up the planning permission paper.
