So harvest 2022 looks like it might go ahead at whatever fert cost, whatever crop price and whatever fuel costs. My small harvest will happen, mainly because by the time the sh!t hit the fan with the final jump in costs Jan to March 2022, the autumn crops were in the ground and actually looked pretty good.
It seemed a shame not to throw almost £100 an acre in white-ish pellets at them to see them reach their potential.
Roll forwards to September 2022 and drilling of crops to harvest in 2023.
Farmers are eternal optimists, love the job and are basically solar powered.
Is there any spirit left in the job to actually plant anything at current prices?
Are we better off just going down to the casino and betting on red, or should that be black?
