Post rammer hydraulic valve help

Hello. I have an old king hitter post rammer with a single bank control valve that I brought a while back, second hand. I needed the valve to be open centre, and as it was set up for closed center (for a JD) I needed to change the closed centre bung on the dump side of the valve to a standard bung, so the oil can constantly flow out the dump. I did this and now I cannot get the control valve to do anything. I haven’t touched the relief valve but would that make much of a difference?
Thank you.

Here’s some pictures. The last one is the valve it came with. I assumed you could just change it to a bung because that’s what it said in the manual. No numbers or anything on the valve so am a little clueless.
any input appreciated.

If there is no info on the valve and you have removed the long plug and I presume replaced it with the "silver" one in the picture. Its time to replace the complete valve and install a more modern valve, your local hydraulic company should be able to help you out.

I think its a Walvoil block, did you try using it 'as is' on your OC tractor before changing the plug?
Yep I did. It worked fine but built up too much pressure and could not let oil back out the dump. It kept knocking the tractor out of constant pump. I thought that it would ruin something on the tractor because it was straining and under lots of pressure. It definitely shouldn’t have been. Would have plenty of flow to run a postrammer. It was just because the oil could not exit, as it is set up for closed center hydraulics.

Dredging up this thread for a to save making a new one.
I currently have manual angle adjustment for the tilt side to side. The total amount that it needs to move is only about 20 degrees either way. The brackets are 700mm Apart. How big of a ram do I require, that will give travel in either directions. If anyone has a kinghitter with angle adjustment that is hydraulic and don’t mind could they measure the closed length and the stroke length If the ram. Might save me some hassle.
thanks.

An educated guess says a ram stroke of 450mm and ram diameter of 60mm.
