If I keep growing spuds (unlikely) I want one of these. Harvesting must be pleasurable without numpty trailer drivers to swear at.

What sort of seperation kit does it have? I have looked at secondhand european ones before (or even a single row) but can't see what they have to take the crap out.

What length of drill can it lift without unloading? Must be great not to have to have trailer running beside.

Has nothing similar to conventional harvesters. has main lifting web, then though a devailian web to remove tops. Then onto rear cross web and small soil/ clods and remaining bits of tops remove by angled roller which moves everything up to the finger web for a better name where the rubber fingers move the potatoes across to the sorting table while smalls, clods and stones carry out out the side onto a small conveyor that drops everything down then across into previously harvested ground. Runs very well in most conditions normally have 2 people on top sorting but can be run with one, on top just keeping an eye on things and removing soil. Makes a hell of a difference in the amount of soil coming back to the yard. Put 1600 tons over the grader in september and didn't manage to fill a 12 ton trailer with soil.

Depending on yeild your milage will vary. Normally for us about .3/.4 acres to a bunker full.
Not the best video of it in action but that was after a wet week.

We have found we can drop a man and tractor of the hauling process and even on 14-15 mile hauls can get away with one man on the road swapping trailers.

Couple of years ago had the 8480 with 650s on the harvester, only thing that could move that year. Was very surprising how little damage it did. Got a picture somewhere if I can find it.

Are you finding it hard to get temps down in Coldstore? I assume it's because of the boxes themselves being warm and the building having had a warm summer and the crop warm as well, the unit has a lot of work cut out for it.

ffs what the heck is that blue thing?

In the picture, it was just a sledge that also lifted potatoes out of the ground. Although maybe unpopular (probably down to the dealer) still the cheapest way to harvest. None of those hugely inflated grimme prices!

Ours are all refrigerated so should be ok. The ones that were lifted before the rains certainly came in warm and no real cool weather to help. I believe ambient stores are still sitting at 10-12C
