Have had a look at it and it does seem to be a very simple machine, as Nielo said above it looks as though even I could repair it , no complicated circuit boards at all, on/off switch and two electric motors a fuel pump and a water pump. One sheet piece of laminated paper for instructions, all of it in English!!!

Dr Dunc , I did ring the Glasgow firm yesterday and as you said good service and good machines but about £500 more for a similar spec machine. When I came off the phone with them I rang Nixon and was told it had been despatched yesterday, so all ok.

Clean trailer for the weekend then. Happy days are here again.

You will find that the gun is fixed to the pipe, which can be a bit of a pain. It needs a swivelling joint by the gun handle, which I've never got around to fitting. WHat I have done is extent the pipe using hydraulic hose so that it is three times as long.

The simple 25 litre drums for fuel and chemical are fantastic and so is the lack of printed circuit boards and specific plastic parts and panels. The foreign blue and yellow machines with fancy names and marketing are a reliability disaster in my experience. Now that you have got over the purchase test, I'm sure this thing will give a long and reliable service.

Swivel joint on there now(y)

Does appear to be remarkebly straight forward machine, very similar to an old Warwick washer we had 25 years ago

Why has this never crossed my mind! All the time I've spent uncoiling the pipe....and all it needed was that. So simple! :)

What are the benefits of hot washers?

We've got a pto powered Hugh crane 2 man commando and a nilfisk Poseidon 8 for washing pig and poultry sheds. Both cold washers bought to give 2 men plenty of water flow and pressure each.

Highly recommend the Poseidon, got a 15kw motor and some real power. Commando is a bit more specialist (and being Hugh Crane, pricey!) ours has 2 100 meter hose reels and an unloader valve so you can have 2 men on it.

Depends on the job at hand. For shifting dried on sh!t, oil, grease and mud from tractors (livestock farm:rolleyes: ), I'd never want cold water again.

For cleaning large areas though, pressure and water volume are more useful as you've said.

Would you wash your dinner dishes in cold water? Of course not, the wife always uses hot water and detergent ;)

Can you get a stand alone water heater to plumb in the suction line of the Poseidon?

It gets used quite a bit for machinery as well, I usually just get a bucket of hot water and a brush to help it out.

You've got me looking at these Nixon washers now. Which is the one to go for? There are 4 models. We have 3 phase.

Be aware that the 5hp single phase model needs a 16amp supply so not easily used away from 13amp sockets.
Could get around that with a genny maybe?

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.
