From The Telegraph:
Pret a Manger is ditching its final vegetarian-only stores as fewer customers seek out specialist meat-free branches.
The sandwich chain will convert its remaining three Veggie Prets in London and Manchester into regular branches by the end of this month.
It will bring an end to the concept almost eight years after it first kicked off a trial of the stores, which sold only vegetarian and vegan options, including salad bowls and falafel sandwiches.
It comes, however, amid signs that more people are reincorporating meat and dairy into their diets.
Figures from the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board last month revealed there was higher demand for meat and dairy products in the run-up to Christmas, with spend on meat, fish and poultry up 11.6pc on the prior year.
People across the UK spent also £600m more on dairy products in the pre-Christmas period, a rise of 2pc on the prior year. This was alongside 11pc less being spent on plant-based alternatives.
