Ewe expecting triplets prolapsed this morning. Bit bigger than orange size. Do as we always do and put harness on her but she's still pressing tonight. Prolapse not out again and chewing cud when checked her 5 mins ago. Not due till 23rd Feb. Would you guys suggest doing anything else for her? I haven't jagged her but thinking i maybe should have.

whoa....i don't want you to get the impression i'm an expert:eek::D:D....whatever you've got?

mrs spin is away for couple days next week.....time to find my harness' and put them in the washer(y):D
I thoroughly washed and put mine aside 2 weeks ago. Usually need 2 or 3 a year but normally they don't have so long to go to lamb [emoji20]

Our local knacker man was in picking up a dead ewe last lambing time, and asked if I used spoons or harnesses?
After I said spoons- he jumped into the back of lorry and pulled 5 out a bucket and gave them to me. He had picked up 6 dead ewes that morning, and the farmers hadn’t bothered to pull the spoons out of them !
So bucket of detol , and I’m good to go !:D

I get quite a lot of prolapses each year (40% carrying triplets and the twins probably to fat) and always get on well with the harnesses. I have had to put a spoon is as well when they prolapses really bad. I find once the harness is on properly they seem to been fine and usually mange to lamb through the harness.

Thanks, just worried bacteria has maybe tract up her. Which med is best to use?

Not picking on you even though it looks like it, but this leads nicely to your other thread on cost of meds..

On the prolapse, did the ewe pee when you put the clean prolapse back in?

I prefer using a spoon with the harness. Seems to stop them straining, and I don’t need the harness as tight !
In 9 out of 10 cases I use harness alone but if its very bad I do use a spoon and harness together. The only thing is u then can't miss the start of her lambing as she can't lamb through it.
