Hi, just wondering whether feeding propcorn oats is safe enough to feed to sheep. A friend thought to you couldn't feed it until a certain time? Thanks!

With Oats so cheap they look a better bet than Hay.
What would the feed analysis be when mixed with Propcorn?
Would lambs take to it and would it be any better than just maintenance?

Propcorn theoretically adds a bit of energy to it but not so you would notice in use., so no it doesnt add anything to the job other than....,
...to use to stop molding and heating of the grain...oats less than 16% moisture wont need it at all .
Oats would do more potential finishing than hay of course but not not as much as barley will.... mix the 2 together would make if a bit safer than just barley and more energy/ starch than just oats .
Palatabilty, well that depends on your lambs how theg take to it, but j always find they find barley more palatable and oats they can be not so keen, after all, its got a fair old husk on it .

I forgot, they will take to / like oats better if its rolled,
But that will mean being even more carefull in use/ restricting amounts at introduction/ to start with than when fed whole ...and it does make them shite themselves to a greater or leesor degree as the amount fed increases or if theres greedier ones amoungst them( which there always is )

But Its a pita to spend extra time / money rolling as well and deff. Dont roll barley btw.(y)
