proposed beaver release in West Wales.

More information to hand Google Bevis Trust and follow links to beavers. It would appear that this is one mans idea of rewilding who in his blogs admits to having corvids (crow family) and foxes shot ,---rewilding as already mentioned involves letting nature find its own balance not selectively encouraging or controlling species to suit one mans vision. If he wants to do it do not expect the neighbours who are unwilling to agree to his ideas to give permission nor have the project imposed upon them.

Often wondered why wild boar is not used for badger control in the UK. Is it a legal reason.

There are a few groups of Wild Boar living wild in Britain. I think the biggest is in the Forest of Dean. They come under the Dangerous Animal Act, but are only dangerous if you invade their space. Of course you may not know you are close to them until a sow has a go at you. A male cannot be bothered, but a sow with piglets or a wounded Wild Boar is very dangerous.
In the Forest of Dean they are breeding very happily. In 2008 it was agreed there were about 90 animals, and it was decided to try and keep to around this figure. There have been culls every year but they cannot keep up with them! In April 2015 there was an updated estimated population figure of 1018, despite the cull of 361 animals that year.
Maybe someone who farms in that area can tell us what the badger population is like, so we know if the two can live side by side.

10 adult Wild Boar can totally dispose of a human body within an hour. The teeth fillings apparently pass through....

Think any sow can be dangerous with piglets especially if your male.

If an owned animal was allowed to roam wild destroying everything it encountered I would be prosecuted, fined and banned from owning animals.

Why is there one rule book for environmentalists and another one for everyone else.

Beyond time these parasites were brought to account.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
