Proximity to gypsy camps - Help wanted gathering info by 20/2/2018

Thanks for reading this.

Our local council (Welwyn Hatfield) are currently out to examination for their proposed new local plan. As part of it they propose a new 15 pitch gypsy site on land opposite us (although they do maintain that exactly where on that land is subject to later "masterplanning" of the development).

We already have a Council gypsy site bordering our land only 400 metres from our yard - 39 pitches with 78 caravans.

Do you know of a larger Council run site than this and, if so, where is it? (According to the latest figures I can see Salford "Duchy Road" site is 61 pitches with 62 caravans, Doncaster Road site at Wakefield is 38 pitches with 114 caravans, Howell Road Wolverhampton is 40 pitches with 40 caravans, Paston Ridings site at Peterborough is 40 pitches with 80 caravans and Hay Lane site Swindon is 37 pitches with 74 caravans).

I am attempting to fight off the proposal for this second site as it will most likely increase the existing dominance of our little rural community by adjoining gypsys hugely.

Do you know of a location with 2 gypsy sites within a mile of each other and how big are they?

All help with info welcome.

This is the existing site showing the areas fly-grazed by them 14 years ago to give an idea of scale and proximity to our land

can't help you much but having dealt with these people and lived near by you have my every sympathy
the Newport site don't know how big is in a disgusting state and the whole area is just fly tipped fires etc animals running every where fly grazing etc etc and you can sea the swansea site from the fly over used to be surrounded by small industrial units which have all gone now I believe couldn't be let and were demolished

Not just gypos there, i can spot UFO activity as well, maybe the aliens will take away all gypsy travelers and drop them off on some far away galaxy.

in that second link there is a link to excel spredsheet (live tables one)once this opens you have access to further tables
Thanks Carole, something to get my head around. Interesting that my local council did not submit figures for July 2017 for the Holwell site. Also, they claim the gypsy population of the borough was 155 on the date in their plan yet the borough has recorded over 155 CARAVANS repeatedly :scratchhead:

We have a site next to one of our fields well away from buildings but still a worry. DCC spent a lot of money a few years ago bringing it above flood level and a few more sites. They are a bl----y nuisance with horses, dogs and mess. As said you have my sympathy.

Not sure I can help much but I do know that round our way, the definition of a Pikey/traveller has been changed.

If they have lived in a brick house, apparantly they no longer qualify. This means the county's needs are much less than they were which has destroyed their main argument for tryouts g to push them on us all

I thought as much, i was just being hopeful, Get some round-up on there, if you cant have the grass why should they.
Apparently a spray called forefront will make their horses very ill im sure it says on the bottle not to spray in horse fields. Which it isnt of course its just a silage field with a weed problem :whistle:
