Thanks for reading this.
Our local council (Welwyn Hatfield) are currently out to examination for their proposed new local plan. As part of it they propose a new 15 pitch gypsy site on land opposite us (although they do maintain that exactly where on that land is subject to later "masterplanning" of the development).
We already have a Council gypsy site bordering our land only 400 metres from our yard - 39 pitches with 78 caravans.
Do you know of a larger Council run site than this and, if so, where is it? (According to the latest figures I can see Salford "Duchy Road" site is 61 pitches with 62 caravans, Doncaster Road site at Wakefield is 38 pitches with 114 caravans, Howell Road Wolverhampton is 40 pitches with 40 caravans, Paston Ridings site at Peterborough is 40 pitches with 80 caravans and Hay Lane site Swindon is 37 pitches with 74 caravans).
I am attempting to fight off the proposal for this second site as it will most likely increase the existing dominance of our little rural community by adjoining gypsys hugely.
Do you know of a location with 2 gypsy sites within a mile of each other and how big are they?
All help with info welcome.
This is the existing site showing the areas fly-grazed by them 14 years ago to give an idea of scale and proximity to our land
