PTO shaft drilling

Do you mean pto shaft as in 6 spline stuck out the gearbox or the lemon/triangle tube.
If it's the tube then any old blunt drill bit will do it. Pto tube is soft as sh!t.
This f###### tube isn't soft. Can't remember the last time anything caused as much trouble to drill

Dont try drilling it in one go ,,slide the yoke onto the shaft and pre mark it from both sides or you could end up a mile of square ,,if its hollow tube ,like Dave W said ,it should dill easily

dave id be right enough at this stage, maybe just tap it in 5 or 6mm if you havnt a larger crater in it , just enough to get you off the center youve made already, start afresh so to speak.
if you knocked it in too far it could bind with the yoke end.
stay away from the chinesium drills, ruko, dormer, wurth and the likes are a lot cheaper in the long run.

thinking about it, its quite possible you were given hardened pto shaft tubing rather than the std tubing, and going by the grief your having its probably the case.
in fairness if it is, its a right pain in the cunnilingus to put a hole in.

maybe if there was a engineering place not far from you it might be the best plan.
ive used solid carbide bit in the past but its a job for the mill, they will go through a file like butter but they are like glass.
dont have any cobalt bits but id say they are the next step up if your set on buying.

It certainly doesn't sound like standard pto tube.
I'm often amazed at how shyte it is given the job it does.
You just have to ask nicely and drill falls through it

It's OK for the 'more precision engineers' on here to faff about with a protractor to get a 118 degree profile but for 'agricultural purposes' 2 hexagon headed bolts, tacked together, will give you a 120 degree guide.....

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
