hello! long time reader first time poster.

so I'm looking to buy a first quad. will be used to move tools around and exercise the dogs. will be looking for something 400 to 500cc ish. will most likely be used due to budget constraints. see lots of used bikes on the bay and gum tree but I don't know what is low and high hours for a bike. won't be putting loads of hours on it but I want something decent and reliable! what would you all consider low and high hours on a quad? most likely be a honda 420 or 500 or a yamaha 450. have 4k to spend.

cheers all

I’d get a 2006-2012 Honda 500 fa.
We had an 06 one that went away at the start of last year. Had clocked just over 6700hrs, 49000kms
Had a new timing chain
2 carb rebuilds
New rear wheel bearings
3 new sets of front wheel bearings
And a few general maintenance items.

The current 500 auto Hondas are horrendous. The old one was an completely stepless idea which never gave and problems and was lovely to drive. The new auto is a Manual gear box which changes up and down itself. I drive ours on manual because it’s so jerky.
Also have a 2011 manual 420 which is ok but not a patch on the old 500 fa
