Bought the 345 today. Rang the area manager said I was disappointed with the service attitude from one of their dealers as I asked why there was such a price discrepancy. Quick chat with him, he rang me back said he has spoken to dealer. £200+vat, spare chain, chain oil, file kit and gloves. He'll be in my area today and will leave it off with me if he can make it. I was fairly impressed, you couldn't say fairer than that.

Got to say that electric has been a revolution here. Bought a stihl with 2 batteries.
Nice and light. Easy to use. Sold my small petrol saw now. Just keep a big petrol for heavy jobs.

Cannot believe this. 4 pages of what chainsaw to get and not a single mention of the safety of using any of the suggested chainsaws for the task in hand. Do non of you actually use a chaisaw to cut brush or scrub, if you did you would soon realise its one of the most dangerous tasks you can do with a chainsaw. I do a lot of brush and scrub and never now use an open chain saw. Instead the standard chainsaw bar is fitted with a hedge trimming attachment which allows the thin whips of brush and scrub to be cut safely. In addition one of the hedge trimming attachment teeth has been removed with an angle grinder at the far end on the top of the bar so that you do still have the option to cut thicker stems on an up stroke.

Bar looks like this

chief i have a chainsaw ticket and i am a fascist when it comes to saw safety, so just come down a gear.

i know yo yo starts.
firing up within 6ft of fuel tin.
taking one step without chainbreak on running saw.

are all common practice for the untrained and are all automatic fail of a chainsaw course.

Sorry but chainsaw ticket is not worth the paper it is written on as the chainsaw cuts into your leg because your trying to use a tool that is not designed for the job. Can think of far better kit actually designed for cutting brush and scrub then try to abuse a chainsaw.

Used to run 3 efco strimmers would say i cut hundreds of acres with them. Blinding wee machines.

I have a 53cc EFCO strimmer since 2000. It has done the world of work , and touch wood , has been excellent. A heavy brute , but then it is double the cubic capacity of the majority of strimmers.
