I meant bend them while shut, and only bend them enough so that both the posts and your knuckles don't touch

The crash barriers are attached to top of mixer wagon by baler twine.

I've seen something similar were someone had made a pen on wheels to walk some sheep down the road by himself. I thought that was a great idea.
