Ransomes YL plough

Evening all,

I was thinking of having a proper go at my local match in the vintage novice class rather than making a mess with a big reversible.
I have an old Ford Ransomes PM3 and a Ransomes TS59J 2 furrow, both on YL165k boards. I was wondering if the 165k frogs will accept 183k boards or is the frog different.

Thanks in advance.

the boards will just straight swap on the frog no problem, however the rear brace behind the board are different and will not fit right,
the bolt holes are the same, but there is more of a bend at the front on the proper 183 stays,
its fairly easy to cut the welded on bit right at the front, deposition the board and weld it back on,
so with a cut and weld it will fit fine

Do you know where I could get a pair of boards and what I might expect to pay for them.

if you want some repro boards i might have a pair, or try Westlakes, google him
if you want genuine Kristeel he might have a pair, but you better be sitting down whoever you ask
Sorry for the slow reply.
Sorry if this sound cheeky I don't mean to be but who made the repos? You hear ones from some places are nearly as good as Kristeel ones and others are like soil magnets that the slice won't slide over cleanly.

made by Chapman's steel,

you have to remember, that genuine YL boards when new where polished by Ransomes on a big grinding machine, modern day ones are not so take a lot longer to get any sort of shine on them, a local metal finisher would polish them for you at a cost of about £80

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
