Rat fence

This is getting silly now. Had a gravid rat try8ng to dig a burrow under our house. So, laid kerb stones 1 meter from the wall and back filled with 4” of 20mm gravel, thinking she might not like digging it. Also put out four baited traps, which she carefully avoids. Anyway, last night I discovered a neat pile of gravel where said rat had spent an hour digging in the same place right up against the wall.

So I thought of electric fencing. Laid 2” off the ground or so around back of house, should discourage the bugger. I did something similar years ago to keep squirrels of the bird feeders. Worked a treat.

Question, where is the best place to buy an energiser, don’t really want to spend a lot on something that is just a rat deterrent. No more than a 10m run. Any recommendations?

The bugger only comes out at silly times of the night, I have filmed it with an old camera trap. The missus is not a happy bunny. Got to get rid of it somehow.

Use mains, just be careful especially in wet weather. No seriously I had the same, laid fine wire mesh, rat cleared off.

I like that idea but wouldn’t it blow the fuses when the rat touches it? I have just ordered a fence energiser. This rat is costing serious money to get rid of. Thanks for the suggestion though.
