Rear dischage spreader floor chains

I think it’s so the slats are short and don’t bend so easily. That said I prefer 2 chain one slat as I think they move the muck better and more evenly to the beaters

I don't think there is much in it if the manufacturer knows what they are doing when designing them...

I know a particular brand of spreader that had only two chains and they were hopeless.

On a four chain spreader, I find that the middle two chains stretch more than the outer ones . Every year the chains have to be swopped around to keep the wear even.

I have one of each and prefer the 2 chain type. In sloppy stuff the 4 chain type leaves material down the length of the floor between the two middle chains. Less moving/wearing parts with a 2 chain type.
