WB still looking three weeks away, so probably not starting here until 4th July, much later than in 1984.

Crops here were set back by early drought, so yields not likely to match those of 2019.

Nominal prices now at a record high but not yet approaching the £650/tonne in today's money available for WB off the combine in July 1976.


What is certain is that the cost of establishing next year's crops will be a new record, in real money and nominal, historic or current cost accounting, back of one's proverbial envelope or up in the cloud.

Most of the country had an easy autumn. But that 50mm of rain we had on 17th September ruined it. It was never easy after that.

The ones I see don’t look bad from the road, my own look ok on the brash, earlier drilled the better, SW looking great, SB some very good and some average (later drilled)
WW’s look very good, a lot of BG about this year
W Beans look very well indeed and podding up nicely. We’ll find out soon enough!!
