It’s quite subtle. The NSA brought forward a letter calling for new management at RT. This letter had majority support in the group but the meeting broke up early, before a motion of no-confidence could be called, so that’s held over until the next meeting.

I hope that the AHDB’s representative will come down off the fence at that meeting and I suggest that any levy payer with an opinion might want to contact Will Jackson at AHDB to give their thoughts.

It is unacceptable for the AHDB to abstain from this vote, the organisation should vote for 1 side or the other and should be able to justify whatever position is taken.

If they were only voting to decide if they had a vote of no confidence or not, then I think AHDB could have voted in favour of that. Although AHDB are on ownership board, so they could have been voting for no confidence in themselves, so I can see why the individual might decide to abstain, particularly if they knew the farmers were all going to vote in favour and get it through anyway.

If it was an actual vote of no confidence, then I could see why AHDB rep would want to go back and consult with rest of AHDB. Again, that said, AHDB say they have been pushing for change at RT, so was a good opportunity to get change.

Not sure. Maybe NSA should have notified everyone of their intentions so others had time to think. Or maybe that would have given the others time to collude.

I strongly suspect that that did happen.

I wondered that too?

Does anyone know who chaired it?

John Dracup is chair of that board I am told. I am also told that he voted against the motion and sided with the retailers.
As chair I consider he should have been more considered about his vote. He has ended up on the other side of the mandate that his board has given him.
However, as chair, his payment rate is good 🙄 and he sits on the main AFS board. He doesn’t want the gravy train to end. 😡

So could see the way the meeting was heading and the meeting was conveniently wound up early 🤔🤔. Tactics on every front. From the boardroom to the shopfloor.
