Reducing topik rates

In a "there but for the grace of God" type of story, a local spray operator accidentally sprayed oats with Topik instead of Modus (identical bottle shape), and it killed every plant over several fields stone dead :(

Cant remember what the rate was , but I'd guess around 0.05 L/Ha.

Stop risking resistance and buy some more Topik!

What crop, what weed and how big are they? I wouldn't use 0.25 because with a litre of oil (depending on water volume) you can reduce that to 0.125 safely and on label.

Moddus is very often used at 0.1, so not far below label rate. I doubt they would have added oil to Moddus but other ingredients in the tank mix may have helped the Topik work better.

Has anyone got any thoughts on which if any type of adjuvant is best to go with topik. Label says MSO or mineral oil or non ionic wetter.

Id be included to think mineral oil would be best but also the hottest followed by MSO then a non ionic wetter.

Did some last thursday...hard water here so Chek / X-Change (whether strictly needed or not), full rate MSO, 200ml Sword/Topik. For big oats hiding in big wheat - the whole lot could hit a drought induced wall anytime, but

Possibly overkill on all fronts but i was patchish spraying and topik not that pricey anymore.

I tend to use MSOs. I've found Zarado harder than Phase II. Both are made by De Sangosse - I asked them at one of the Adjuvant Academies why that was & the answer was complex enough that I can't remember what it was! I'm not sure the choice makes a huge amount of difference. IMO how you apply it is more important. 100 l/ha with super coarse nozzles in a thick crop is never going to be as good as a finer spray at a higher volume.

Another question: my agronomist who is normally fairly relaxed wants me to separate t1 and topik. Worth it? Forecast isn’t good?
