Your only real way is to redrain preferably 20m spacing and cut through opposite way so new drains will bleed them of water

Not going to happen. Its on a hillside and the existing stone drains are the most logical levels for the contours. Was really thinking of lifting the lids and replacing with concrete lids that will stand modern tractor weights. But then while the lids are off would it be worth dropping in
perforated plastic drainage pipe. Stone drains are approx 9 inch wide by 6 inch deep.

We had a wet bit which gradually became a pond. Found old stone drain and spent almost 2 days trying to patch between blockages before just ripping it up and put in 6 inch plastic all the way. It was a pity to wreck it but it was probably 100 years old and had just had its day. All dry now

Did you put the pipe in the original stone drain or did you bury the new pipe deeper. My drains are very shallow which makes moleing difficult.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
