If I bought a machine from France and brought it back here, how easy is it to register over here. Guessing would be a Q plate? Don't think it's been road registered in France as far as I can make out?

I’m sure the build date would be on or available on serial number to enable an age related plate.probably all you need to know on dvla website

It's not too bad to do although takes about 6-8 weeks. If you phone dvla and explain they will put you through to relevant department and they will send you the correct paperwork to fill out and it costs £55. It doesn't go on a q plate it will go on a plate relevant to Yr or manufacture

Yes you will get a foreign v5 from the country it was registered in and a nova declaration which will both get sent off to dvla before you get your new v5

Done this many times with a tractor not registered aboard and registered abroad, get it home get the serial numbers, then I get onto John Deere uk with photos of the serial numbers and invoice to say I own it, and they provide me with a letter proving the build date, send this letter with logbook/V5 application to dvla and then they will assign an age related plate to the tractor. The letter from the manufacturer proving the date is key. Deere happen to be very helpful with this and don’t charge, but others might be more problematic.

Nova certificate to prove your vat has been acounted for

If you have log book from seller send that to dvla with nova cert £55 and v55c form

You will get an age related plate
If no log book you will need to prove date of manufacturer

You could ask for q plate but once this is acquired you can no longer get age related after.

DVLA will require evidence of age. If itis machine for which there is a collectors group, ie. the David Brown Tractor Club then a letter from is good enough. May be difficult if it is more exotic.
as others say if it is a VAT reclaimable, they will need evidence of VAT paid

Do you have to send in the original log book in or can a copy be made? Just thinking of the original going walk about and then what
