what are the rules around registering an old pick up for limited/agri use? And how do you go about doing registering them for this? Also how much should i expect to pay for a truck thats registered for this? Thanks in advance!

Apply to the DVLA. I have in the past put a Land Rover and a motorcycle over to the limited use category. Just fill out the form. No MOT required, but must be roadworthy and have insurance. You can only go on the road to travel to another land in your occupation and the journey must not be more than 1.5 Km. Red diesel is allowed. As many journeys as you like per day.

Look on the DVLA website, you might even find one in the rack at a post office. Alternatively, ring them up and wait half an hour for somebody to answer. Haha.
well, I had to ring up to tax the tractor today and was on the line for over an hour! As to why I have to tax the tractor, I am not sure, as it costs nothing and does not need an MOT test, seems like bureaucracy for bureaucracy sake!

If you don't MOT a limited use vehicle you are limited to 6 miles per week on public highway in total, subject to the 1.5km maximum single journey. If you MOT it you are still limited to 1.5km max journey, but can have an unlimited number of those trips.

Its not the case that a Limited Use vehicle doesn't need an MOT, whether it does is determined by the amount of distance it goes on the road.

Why so long? Do ours on the phone when the reminder comes, automated system takes 3-4 minutes tops

I should have done it in May, as it was June, could not do it automated, so a half hour wait to talk to someone, they then said I need to transfer you to someone else to deal with, and another half hour on hold. I know I was at fault for not doing it last month, but I was still on the phone for over an hour. Not sure if it is because of Covid or the fact that they are having industrial action in DVLA.
