bought 3 albrecht chucks yesterday, all on r8 , no good to me .
Want to remove arbor and swap to probably mt3
I think the chuck is jt6.
Only wedge I've seen is msc 30 odd quid , any other options other than screwdriver and big hammer. ???
Did a Jacobs 33 other day , drilled straight thru , 6 mm punch , bang , i ain't going to be drilling these chucks.
Options?

Best bet is just buying the wedges. Albrecht chucks are superb, I wouldn't risk buggering them up just to save 30 quid. Assuming the arbors are in decent nick you'll make half that back by flogging them off on eBay anyway.

U could well be right there captain, there will be 3 r8s. To go.
Looks like on msc the wedge is one piece which I thought odd , or I've miss read pluss 3 mts and it's adding up but only going to do it once, never going to buy another chuck am I .

If you buy the individual size wedges then they usually come as pairs to run against each other. Some multi size sets provide one of each size & you use the "next size up" as the "backer" against the chuck with the correct size against the shoulder - of course that doesn't help if you are using the larger size. It's possible to make "feathers" to use with plain wedges (e.g. flat blade screwdrivers), but it's a fiddly job & you're usually better off getting the proper kit!

Watched the vids on tube with pairs of wedges, absolutely the correct way .
Been unable to source any atm.
Local go to engineering shop said not in stock and Jacob's very hard to deal with atm
Fordy whatever on ebay only has no1 s in other sizes unobtainable atm , later spoke to my local which then agreed.
Just bought something on ebay so I'll see what rocks up.
Cheers
Watching Mr pete it looks perfectly simple with pair of wedges
