Replacement Simba bearings

We have a 12m set of Simba rolls. We also used to have a Simba press and this had the same bearings, which sit in a pressed steel housing fixed by four bolts. These bearings always seemed to be loose on the shafts, which I am told is correct, but they go on a regular basis and hold the job up. Has anyone found anything better than these? They aren’t cheap but it’s the downtime when we are in a hurry that really grates !

Do you buy the sealed ones? or greasable?

We fitted some sparex ones to our press a couple of weeks ago.£55 each greasable.they rely on the belvil washer keeping them tight .they also had some non greasable ones a double the price.but I prefer to greas them don’t know if they last any longer but it makes me feel better.

Not sure which were fitted last year when they were all rebuilt, but three have gone this spring. I will find out, but I suspect we have tried both over the years.

Have you got a picture of the bearings @chaffcutter ?

I used to get through the big disc gang bearings on our Solo. I found out where Simba got them made & went direct to them instead.

Don't get me wrong chaps, they are easy to get from several places, and not that different in price. It's the seemingly short life of them that is annoying as changing them holds the job up when we are always in a hurry!
I just wondered if anyone had found a suitable alternative?

Rolling wheat before the (small amount) of rain, the ground had set like concrete and as the bearings don't fit tight on the shaft ( this is the only instance I have ever heard of that is fitted slack) we think the hammering between shaft and bearing has caused them to break up. But they are not long wearing anyway.

Did you find an alternative ? Having the same problem here and want to find some better quality ones if possible.
