Replacing a 6480

I'm really impressed, I ploughed this hill this time last year and struggled 4k up it with 6480 (unable to use boost in 2nd gear) whereas 516 pulled at 7k up it! But today's issue has been the plough, I'm making a sh!t of a job with No8 boards with the 650s on the back. Plough is set at 16". I'm not happy with the 'hinging' of the soil and I feel it's fighting the plough and tractor to get the front furrow matched. Will hopefully try a 5 furrow on No28s tomorrow
That will be a fair big jump, the No.28's are a nice bit harder to pull, but do a lovely job. I run them behind a tractor on 710's and they do a good job.

How would you say it compares to the 6480 on similar jobs?
For ploughing it has performed better where the 6480 couldn't use the boost in 2nd gear on steep braes, unfortunately we don't meter diesel usage so I can't make an informed comment but it ploughed 12hrs on half a tank of diesel, it's a bar above half full of adblue after 75hrs so that's not bad either! Handling the tanker no problem, both tractors did 55k, the Fendt dies away maybe 2-3k more on the hills but I expected that from driving other Varios and I imagine it'll loosen up a little. Much more nimble than the 6480 for sowing/spraying. A joy to spend the day on!

Aye MF has made a bit of a Blunder with the Dyna-6 as in there being no boost in 2nd gear unless you have sumfink that requires its PTO on.
So you end up having to buy a much bigger horse like i did that you ever thought you would need too.
Dyna-vt just runs in boosted power all the time.

If your ploughing and let the PTO run will the boost come on?

no only if there is a substantial amount of power required from PTO boost comes in. Don't think it's a blunder boost doesn't come in in 2nd gear range. That's to protect the gearbox. 6480 is a 145 (?) HP tractor, 516 a bit more fixed to a vario transmission so I don't think its that surprising it pulls the plough easier through changing conditions compared to the 6480 dyna6.....

Boost comes in from 2A in the 7600 and 7700. A lot better for draft work.
Boost does work in 3A like the 6480 but seeing there is 3 Torque Curves on these you cant get the full 200hp i presume until its running the PTO aswell. this is on a 7718 of course.
Made it no better on the Unipress here when i tried one.
6480 was only 13hp behind it.

i often wonder why you still buy mf tractors as you always moan about them?why not buy a jd?or throw caution to the wind and buy a fendt, not just a massey hybrid that you have?????

Its a Free country i'll moan if i want.
As you have all the answers you must have the most perfect tractors ever made then.
Ive paid alot of bloody hard earned CASH for what i have.
Fendt is dreamland money so no chance there.
Masseys are heading the same way.
ive no interest to move to JD neither
Does that answer all your questions
