Replacing springs on an old haybob

The haybob is an old 200 model (I think). I'm trying to replace a spring on the right hand rotor. The problem is tensioning the spring, with the hole in the paddle shaft vertical the curved end of the spring is underneath and catches on the clearance hole underneath if I try and tension it. There must be a knack to it, but it's years since I've done one. Does the roll pin need to be in partially first ? Confused.com

I remember spending quite a long time
Swearing and struggling to figure it out and it was easy in the end but I can't remember
I have just remembered that the spring
Needs to be tensioned

Take the tine off, knock rollpin out, take plastic Bush off, broken spring off, fold paddle right back, slip new spring and bush on, knock rollpin right in, hook spring in hole and rollpin, swing paddle round against spring tension, knock rollpin back a bit so it stops the paddle unwinding with the spring again, fit the tine job done. Think that's the order anyway not done it for a while.

ps. check the springs are for the right side!

Important that the times do not point out during transport. So forget new springs, far quicker to just tie them up with a length of baler twine round them to the rotor. Adds 2 minutes to transport, each new spring adds blood, sweat and 30 minutes posting on here because you forgot how to change it from 2 years ago.

Springs aren't just about transport, the tines last longer if the springs are good.
