Looking at a 12 plate spreader. Its done very little work. What are people's thoughts on them. The competitors say they bridge and have a crap spread pattern. Surly they ant that bad. We are only farmers and will beused about 10 days a year. All advice please

We bought a new one last year, it's a fantastic spreader. Used to hire bunning, the spread on the Western is far better, the hire spreaders used to spread thicker out the back than out the sides where as the western spreads very even.
We have spread old rotted muck and fresh stuff straight out the shed and it hasn't caused any problems what's so ever.
I can't rate them highly enough.

They were all around the same price when we bought. Not more than a few hundred pounds either way, we priced 4 different makes.

Glen's been great all the years we've needed a spreader. But the way the weather is everyone needs a spreader on the same day and it got harder and harder to get one, so we bought one. It's been great to have one as there's been a few days we've got a bit done some mornings, if we hired by the time we picked it up and got started it wouldn't be fit to go much longer.

We have had a 10 ton and a 12 ton RW spreaders. I would say they have the best spread pattern of rear discharges, thats the only reason we have stuck with them because the paint is poor and the beater gearbox is not as reliable as others

We've run a Richard western 10ton for several Years I wouldn't hesitate to have another they spread well, don't leave lumps and they pull a lot easier than the bunnings 105 mk1which we used to hire.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
