Unfortunately I think the devil will be in the detail of what he’s charged with. If it’s preventing flooding he’ll be fine but if it’s interfering with a river in an SSSI he will be found guilty.
Touching a river bank is negotiable, touching a river bed is a cardinal sin in these peoples eyes, big big no no. They would happily fine you tens of thousands of pounds if not worse.

It is a lot easier to prosecute John Smith farmer defended by Sue , Grabbitt and Runn rather than Anglia Water who will employ the best barristers in the land with the very best expert witnesses.

No success = no brownie points
Which is why we should all contribute for his defence, I know from personal experience over a planning matter that you need big balls and a big cheque book to take public bodies on, they dont care what it costs but they dont like being challenged

I seem to recall, someone here did mention speaking to Mr Price about some community help...financially speaking.

Here is his defence if true " County councillor Sebastian Bowen told Farmers Weekly that he, local parishioners and residents were present on River Lugg Bridge in Kingsland when three EA officials asked Mr Price to carry out the work

If the above people stand up in court and say the above its case closed

Not the SSSI bit though... That is NE, and has been discussed here many times, they can be.... "difficult" if they see a successful prosecution :( Witness @ajcc and his travails....

However, as Parish Council records are a legal document as discussed earlier in the thread, so the EA part of the argument should be shut down PDQ.
